  3. You’re thinking of Steam Detectives, which started publication in 1994, 10 years before Steamboy was released.

  4. There was a Manga and Anime called Steam City that existed before Steam Boy.

  5. @CoryTheRaven hey thanks; after searching that comic title- I’ve found that’s what I was thinking of.

  6. There was a comic called “Steampunk” by Chris Bachalo and Joe Kelly, but they got the name from K.W. Jeter and the genre as a whole. Maybe you’re thinking of the movie “Steamboy”?

  7. I swear.. I could have sworn there was an anime actually called Steampunk, and I thought that’s where the term started.

  8. perhaps if the desert suits ran on steampower or were make of brass or copper. i think punk in Desert Punk really just refers to kanta’s personality.

  9. is Steam Punk related in any way to Desert Punk?

  10. Some people think so. The aesthetic in it is more Art Deco, but the setting is mid-20th century and it is a critique of Ayn Rand’s theories. I wouldn’t really consider that in the same vein.
